Dairy

There are just a few dairy farms in Highlands County, primarily located to the east and south of the populated areas of the County.  Florida is a major milk producing state, though we still have to import milk to supply our large population.  Milk cows in Florida don't produce milk quite as efficiently as northern cows due to the subtropical heat we have here.  To learn more about the dairy industry in Florida, visit the Florida Dairy Council website.
