AG-Venture

Staff members Jennifer Abbey, Jackie Bailey, Corine Burgess and Erin McCarta taught 3rd grade students about the water cycle and watersheds.

2006

This was the first year HSWCD participated in Highlands County AG-Venture. It is a 3-day program for third graders to gain experience, understanding, and appreciation of our local agricultural practices.  Approximately 1,300 students attended. Through collaborated efforts Highlands SWCD staff, Jennifer Abbey, Jackie Bailey, Clell Ford, and Erin McCarta, and Okeechobee Soil and Water's Joanna Sherman taught the students about conservation, the water cycle and the role of wetlands in the watershed.  We appreciate the many volunteers that helped out at our station!
