Adopted Lake Levels for selected lakes in Highlands County
Elevations shown are the elevation of the lake surface in feet above mean sea level - NOT the depth of the lake.
Definitions:
The 10 year flood warning level is the level that the lake is expected to rise to approximately once every 10 years. There is approximately a 10% chance that the lake will reach this level in any given year. No structures should be built below this level.
The minimum flood level is the highest level that a lake is expected to reach in an average year.
The minimum low management level is the lowest level that a lake is expected to reach in an average year and water withdrawls allowed by consumptive use permits from the lake must cease when the lake drops below this level. Non-permitted withdrawls can generally continue though.
The minimum extreme low management level is the level that a lake is expected to drop to about once every ten years, or a level that has a 10% chance of being reached in any given year.
