Lake Brentwood

Lake Brentwood is a 51 acre 'ridge' type lake located to the north of the City of Avon Park.  There is no public access to this lake, though there is a motel located on Lake Brentwood.  Based on the limited Lakewatch data available (a few samples taken in 2003), water quality in Lake Brentwood is good for a lake of this type.  Phosphorus levels are very low in Lake Brentwood, ranging from 8 to 10 ppb (parts per billion).  Nitrogen levels are moderate for a ridge lake, ranging from 780 to 890 ppb.  These low levels of nutrients result in low algae populations, which are estimated based on the concentration of chlorophyll in the water.  Chlorophyll values range from 3 to 5 ppb, resulting in good water clarity.  Water clarity, as measured by the depth to which a standardized 'secchi' disc can be seen when lowered into the water, is quite good in Lake Brentwood.  Secchi depths range from 9 to 12 feet.
