Conservation Volunteer Opportunities in Highlands County

ATTENTION!  We need your help!  Protect our lakes!  Help us stencil storm drains and paste placards on drains that read 'Dump no Waste, Protect Your Waters.'

These words are intended to educate the public concerning the fate of all things that are washed into storm drains.  Problems are created when homeowners dump waste into drains, mistakenly thinking that the waste will be going to a treatment plant.  Call 402-6545 for more information.

Join the Florida LAKEWATCH program!  Do you have a boat?  Here's another excuse to get out on one of Highlands County's beautiful lakes!  The LAKEWATCH program at the University of Florida's is looking for volunteers to collect monthly water samples on lakes throughout Florida.  Click here to find out which lakes in Highlands County currently need volunteers.  Contact Erin at 402-6545 for more information.

EarthTeam - You can volunteer to assist our office through the EarthTeam Program sponsored by the Natural Resource Conservation Service.  We can use assistance in a variety of areas from gluing placards reading 'Dump no waste, drains to waters' on storm drains, to office and computer work.  Please phone 402-6545 to find out more about how you might help us improve the environment!
