For the most part, ditches in
Highlands County are
maintained by the Highlands County Road and Bridge Department (402-6529).
Ditches are kept clear of vegetation so that they can transport water off of
roadways and prevent flooding. About 33 miles of canals (all or in part)
are maintained by the County's Aquatic Weed Control Department (402-6812).
